Yemen Shelter cluster and Camp Coordination and Camp Mangement programme (CCCM) reported that it requires 22m USD to address the needs of the at Internally displaced People’s (IDP) sites effected by the current floods in surrounding communities at Hajjah, Aden, Hudaydah, Marib, Lahj, Ibb, and Taizz Governorates
In a joint report Addressing the Climate Emergency - Immediate Needs for shelter assistance for IDP’s in Yemen they described the situation as “dire, necessitating immediate action to provide lifesaving assistance to affected communities”. This includes emergency shelters, shelter repairs, Non-Food Items (NFIs)3, and site monitoring.
The report noticed that severe flooding has struck particularly hard at Internally displaced People’s (IDP) sites and over the past two weeks, these floods have tragically resulted in numerous injuries and have severely impacted more than 322,0002 people, destroying homes, farms, and livestock, and devastating livelihoods.
For families already struggling with ongoing challenges, this natural disaster represents another devastating blow. However, access challenges, including reduced Camp Coordination and Camp Mangement programme (CCCM) presence and blocked roads due to flooding, are hindering needs assessments and posing significant obstacles to aid delivery.
