"There is a viable path that the parties can chose to pave the way toward a negotiated and inclusive peace for the benefit of all Yemenis with the support of the regional actors and international community”, according to the United Nation’s Secretary General Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg,

Grundberg who concluded another visit to Riyadh Sunday met with Yemeni Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shayea Al-Zindani, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates’ Ambassadors to Yemen, and members of the diplomatic community, noted that the 6 May announcement of a cessation of hostilities between the United States and Houthi rebels presents not only an opportunity for de-escalation in the Red Sea but also an opening for the parties to deliver on their earlier commitments for nationwide ceasefire, economic measures and a political process, stating that ““Yemen has suffered over 10 years of brutal conflict”.

Grundberg also underlined the urgency to address Yemen’s worsening economic conditions, which is impacting the daily lives of Yemenis across the country
